Results from ASCA's 2012 ASC Employee Salary & Benefits Survey are now available. This year, ASCA members can access the full report online. Printed copies will not be distributed.
The 1,122 ASCs that participated in the survey provided salary and benefits data for 19 ASC positions. National and regional analysis is provided and state-specific reports are available for 27 states and the District of Columbia. State-based regional information is also available for California, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Texas.
One noteworthy trend revealed in the report is that nationally, most salaries rose in 2012:
Administrator salaries +5%
Business office manager salaries +3.6%
Director of nursing salaries +3.3%
Materials manager salaries +1.2%
In addition, 22% of ASCs reported that it was more difficult to recruit new employees in 2012 than in 2011. 68% found the recruitment climate to be the same, and 9% found it to be easier.
Another key finding was the benefit of being CASC (Certified Administrator Surgery Center) certified. Without the CASC certification, an administrator with a clinical background had a median salary of $92,872. With the CASC certification, however, an administrator with a clinical background had a median salary of $110,000.
